New statutory chair in Women's History announced

New Statutory Chair in Women’s History Announced - The Hillary Rodham Clinton Chair of Women’s History

The Faculty of History are delighted to annouce that we have just advertised a brand new, permanent Statutory Chair in Women’s History, the Hillary Rodham Clinton Chair of Women’s History.

This is a very exciting development. We are very grateful indeed to a group of committed donors from both the US and UK who have made this possible. The new Chair, which can be held by a historian of any period or place,  is probably the first Chair of Women’s History of its kind to be advertised anywhere in the English-speaking world. The Professorship will be attached to St John’s College, and the holder will join the eleven other Statutory Chairs of History in the Faculty.

This will put Oxford on the map as a leading home for women’s history internationally.
